[EXES] Chapter 2 – Is Ah-Yao My Girlfriend?

Su Mu sat in the car’s back seat, flipping through his phone with a calm expression.

The middle-aged man initially wanted to sit in the co-pilot, but he forced him into the back seat, so he had to work hard to reduce his sense of existence.

    [July 13, 9012.]

If he travelled three hundred years back, then according to the time recorded in the history books, there are still four days left before the breakout and the world ending. If the apocalypse did not erupt, it would prove he had travelled to another world.

Su Mu spread out his palms; the thick cocoons from training and fighting had disappeared, and only a thin layer of calluses remained from writing.

He transmigrated into a person who looked exactly like him. They even had the same name.

Thinking of this, he raised his eyes and glanced at the huddled man, “What’s your name?”

The horrified man looked at Su Mu and stammered, “I… my name is Jiang Sheng.”

Jiang Sheng hasn’t seen Su Mu in a while. He couldn’t understand how Su Mu suddenly changed, but he didn’t dare to provoke him; after all, the situation that happened just now was terrifying, okay?

As if thinking of something dreadful, Su Mu’s brows suddenly tightened, “Did we go to bed yesterday?”

Looking at Su Mu’s cold face, Jiang Sheng shook like a leaf, “No, no.”

He swallowed hard, “I’ve never touched you. I’m a trustworthy businessman. I promised to wait until your mother recovers before touching you. I won’t cheat.”

Su Mu’s expression moved slightly, “I can’t tell.”

    Jiang Sheng, “…”

You can’t question his character just because he is ugly. The only reason Jiang Sheng clamoured to cut off Mother Su’s medical expenses was because he was furious over Su Mu’s sudden change.

Seeing that he didn’t seem to be lying, Su Mu’s face gradually darkened, so who was it yesterday.

He thought about it for a while and then gave up. Forget it. Just treat it as being bitten by a dog. Anyway, this is not his body. He might even go back to his own body after falling asleep again.

When they arrived at the hospital, Jiang Sheng hurriedly opened the car door, got out of it impatiently, and ran ahead to lead the way. He was seemingly courteous, though – truth to be told – he just wanted to stay away from Su Mu as far as possible.

Despite running away, he had short legs, and Su Mu narrowed the distance between them in a few steps.

Su Mu looked around at the passers-by, and a trace of inquiry flashed in his eyes.

Is it true that the height of human beings in peacetime is so petite?

Human beings born in the last days conform to the principle of biological evolution. The general height of men is not less than 1.85 meters, and women’s is not less than 1.75 meters. With his height of 1.79 meters, Su Mu was a rare exception.

During peacetime, Su Mu could consider himself tall, though.

“It’s right here.” Jiang Sheng stopped outside a VIP ward, looked back at Su Mu, and raised a flattering smile.

Because it was a sterile ward, it was inconvenient for family members to enter, so Su Mu looked at the woman lying on the bed through the glass window.

His heart suddenly felt cramped, and Su Mu was so stuffy that he could barely breathe. He tried to calm down and asked, “How is my mother?”

Jiang Sheng replied, “The situation is very optimistic. She will actively receive auxiliary treatment for some time and will be fine.”

Su Mu stretched out his hand and clasped it hard on the glass. His fingertips turned white from the force, “It’s fine.”

This is not his mother’s face, but it gives him a very kind and cherished feeling. Maybe the original owner’s emotions are at play.

He decided to protect Mother Su as payment for occupying someone else’s body.

Regardless of whether the apocalypse will break out in four days, he has to bring Su Mu’s mother back. He is not entirely sure, but just in case. He can’t afford to bet on her life if the apocalypse breaks out.

Su Mu didn’t speak, and Jiang Sheng didn’t dare to leave, so they were silent for a long time until he decided: “Let’s run the discharge procedure. I will take my mother home.”

    “Ah?”

Jiang Sheng looked confused, “Why? She hasn’t received adjuvant treatment yet. I can pay for it.”

Su Mu’s cold eyes startled him, and he repeatedly said, “J, just saying.”

After completing the discharge procedures, Su Mu Mu hugged the quiet Mother Su and looked back at Jiang Sheng, “I’ll take a taxi home by myself. You go and tend to your injuries.”

Jiang Sheng responded with tears streaming down his face.

He thought your old man had forgotten that Jiang Sheng was also a wounded patient.

After Jiang Sheng left, Mother Su, silent all this time, said: “Mu Mu.”

Su Mu’s heart warmed, and an indescribable feeling came to his heart. He clearly felt the intense satisfaction and joy in the owner’s heart.

He looked down at the ruddy woman in his arms and responded softly.

Mother Su raised her eyes and looked straight at Su Mu, “Tell me honestly, did you and Ah-Yao jointly pay for the medical expenses?” Su Mu was stunned for a moment. Who is Ah-Yao?

Seeing that he was silent, Mother Su raised her voice slightly, “Who was that man just now?” (author’s note: From now on, she will be called Su Wanmei; otherwise, Su Mu and Mother Su will lead to typos.***) Su Mu paused, “Ah-Yao is Who?”

“…” All of Su Wanmei’s questioning was blocked by this sentence, “You…”

Su Mu casually made up an excuse, “I bumped my head last night, and I don’t remember the past.”

Su Wanmei didn’t believe it, “Then why do you still remember me?”

Su Mu said, “I only remember you.”

Even though she knew he was lying to her, Su Wanmei couldn’t help but feel warm in her heart while her eyes turned red, “You silly child, mom is half buried in the soil. You don’t need to wrong yourself for me. You can live well with Ah-Yao; I won’t feel at ease if I don’t know where your money came from. I will never have surgery.” Su Mu listened to her carefully before saying: “Is Ah-Yao my girlfriend?”

    Su Wanmei: “…”

Su Mu said again, “Do you think that man just now looks like my benefactor?”

Thinking back, Su Wanmei realized that even though the man was dressed like a nouveau riche just now, he spoke to his son like a subordinate.

“Then, he is…” Su Wanmei asked suspiciously.

Su Mu supported Su Wanmei’s body with one hand, waved and called the next taxi.

Su Mu said, “I really don’t remember the past.”

Su Wanmei held his face in her hands and looked at him for a while – although she couldn’t believe it: “It’s really different from before.”

Though her son was a boy, he usually behaved more like a girl, with a weak and delicate personality – always very considerate in caring for others. The current Su Mu gives people a feeling of indifference and alienation.

Su Mu rubbed his temples, asking again, “Is Ah-Yao my girlfriend?”

Su Wanmei was a little embarrassed. She glanced at the driver in the front row and whispered: “Ah-Yao is your boyfriend; how you call him, I forgot.”

    “…”

Su Wanmei’s words were like a thunderclap splitting open his scalp and scorching his brain. It took him a while to recover his voice, “Why didn’t you stop me from getting a boyfriend? Don’t you have any objections?”

Su Wanmei said, “Ah-yao is a good boy, Mom likes him very much, and it’s the first time I’ve seen you like someone so much. Above all, he also likes you. Wouldn’t it be too biased if Mom objected?”

    Su Mu, “…”

If he guessed right, it should be like this:

The original owner put up with Jiang Sheng because of Su Wanmei’s illness, so Ah-Yao must have broken up with the original owner.

Su Mu wondered if Su Wanmei would be angry knowing they broke up since she liked Ah-Yao so much. She was still recuperating, after all.

Su Wanmei thought awhile and said, “Then what happened to that man just now? Why did he listen to you so much?”

Su Mu resolutely blamed the original owner, “He said that I saved him before, and I don’t know what happened. I don’t remember anything from the past.”

Su Wanmei thought of something and grabbed his arm, “Is it the time you were injured?”

    Su Mu, “???”

Su Wanmei stared at him nervously. Her eyes seemed to want to wake up his memory, “It was three months ago when I was just diagnosed with lung cancer, you came to the hospital to see me, and there was a bandage on your arm, with a long gash.”

She couldn’t help it. Covering her lips, she began to cry, “You still want to hide it from me, you silly child.”

Su Mu quickly comforted her, “It’s okay now – it’s all over.”

Su Wanmei said again, “No wonder you brought the money to pay for the operation, but why did you lie to me that you and Ah-Yao raised the money?”

Su Mu said, “You saw that man just now. He doesn’t look like a good person. I didn’t want to let him meet you.”

He still remembers Jiang Sheng’s despicable behaviour and feels disgusted when he thinks about it.

Su Wanmei touched his head, “It’s wrong to judge people by their appearance, but you helped him, and he helped me, so we’re even.”

    Su Mu nodded obediently.

Hello everyone who stumbled upon this page!

I have nothing to say apart from being sorry for pausing for so long. Things went crazy after I went on a 3 week trip to Vietnam back in March. I am currently working too much for it to be healthy. That’s why my life took a deep dive and I went MIA on every hobby I had… Anyways, I think I am back until December and my plan is to update once a week for now.

Btw, I was surprised at the negative stars on NU. Maybe I should read this story first before translating it? I was at chapter 100something or so when I decided to tanslate it. Is it that bad (please be careful about spoiling the story for others)? I think it is because of the overly black vinegar ML… he is very pushy and such an overbearing man but I find him better than some other danmei MLs since he absolutely adores MC (?). I have seen MLs being nice to others but abusing MC instead – I feel like those guys are worse than the guy who hates anyone but the one he loves (gives me villains in love vibe). I feel like Ah-Yao would f*ck the world 10 times over just to save Su Mu once. Another reason I wanted to translate this is because it got most of my favourite troupes in one story, which is cultivation, time travel, body-possessing, zombie apocalypse and enemies to lovers danmei. I want to see how the author manages to balance everything.
