[EXES] Chapter 10 – You Look So Pretty When You Smile

After cleaning the house, everyone put on their weapons, long sleeves and long trousers, fully armed, and prepared to collect supplies together.
All their weapons were iron rods, and no one knew where they had been removed, so the long knife in Su Mu’s hand stood out the most among the group.

Luo Beiyao looked deeply at Su Mu, pursing his lips, but said nothing.
Everyone was about to go out when Su Mu paused suddenly. He turned to Su Wanmei, who was wiping the table, and said, “Mom, have you seen the long knife I put under your bed?”
After hearing this, everyone stopped and looked at the two of them. Su Wanmei was also stunned, “What kind of long knife?”
Su Mu ignored the eyes of others and said quietly, “I put a long knife under your bed. You can take it out and collect supplies with us.”

Everyone’s expressions at Su Mu instantly became complicated. Although Su Wanmei also had a superpower, she was only a woman, after all, and she seemed powerless. Initially, it was assumed that she stayed home in a situation like hers. They didn’t expect Su Mu had planned for her to go with them.

Su Wanmei also didn’t react for a moment.

Luo Beiyao was a little unhappy. Displeasedly, he clamped Su Mu’s wrist and said, “Aunt Su can stay home and care for herself. What if she gets scratched by a zombie if she goes out with us?”

Luo Beiyao was already resentful towards Su Mu. Because of Su Wanmei’s incident, he couldn’t control his strength for a moment. When the other party broke free from his shackles, there were faint red marks on his fair wrists. It was as if the white jade was stained with a few traces of cinnabar. Luo Beiyao felt these hands were so beautiful that he wanted to take a few bites out of them.

It’s just a pair of hands; how can they look this enticing?

Noticing Luo Beiyao’s slightly distracted look, Su Mu raised his wrist coldly and pointed the sharp tip of the knife at the opponent, and a hint of disgust flashed through his eyes.

He seemed too lazy to talk to Luo Beiyao, nodded to Su Wanmei, pointed in the direction of the room and asked her to get the knife under the bed, and then looked at Luo Beiyao, “I will protect my mother, but I won’t Let her waste her powers and become a weakling with no power.”

Luo Beiyao looked slightly startled. He said no more, but he stepped away wisely. It was not until Su Wanmei came down with a long knife that the group of people opened the door and walked out. Only Shen Man and Xin Qimeng are left at home.

Luo Beiyao and the others brought a remodelled large truck with them on the way. Everything was tightly wrapped in iron sheets, leaving only two small windows on both sides of the car. The guardrail at the back of the truck was also raised to prevent zombies from getting on the vehicle.
After all, sometimes, when encountering a zombie wave, it’s easy to become overwhelmed.

Luo Beiyao was driving, and Wu Keke sat in the passenger seat. Su Wanmei was initially scared when she came out for the first time after the apocalypse. However, as soon as she saw the two people in the driver’s seat, she felt another form of discomfort, and her fear was left behind.

Seeing that Su Wanmei was obviously absent-minded and in a bad mood, Su Mu stretched out his hand to wrap his hand around her. There was warmth in his usually calm eyes. He comforted her in a gentle voice, “Mom, don’t be too nervous. Primary zombies move slowly. You just need to be careful not to be caught by them. Their fatal weakness is the neck, so just cut off its head.”

When Su Wanmei heard Su Mu telling him about his experience killing zombies, she quickly stared at him sternly and unblinkingly. After a few seconds, she reacted belatedly, “Mumu, how come you know this so well?”
Su Mu lied without changing his face, “After you returned to your room these past few days, I killed a few zombies at the door to practice my skills.”
Su Wanmei touched Su Mu’s face distressedly, “You kid, you are really…”

Lu Shuangshuang held it in for a long time and finally couldn’t help but interject, “Su Mu… I think you look so pretty when you smile.”
Her voice was not loud but evident in the car. Luo Beiyao, who was driving seriously, stiffened slightly when he heard this.

After struggling for a while, he calmly glanced in the rearview mirror. However, Su Mu’s position was just out of sight of the rearview mirror. He pinched his brows irritably and pursed his lips tightly. He couldn’t help it and continued to drive the car.

Su Mu glanced at Lu Shuangshuang inexplicably because of what she said. He didn’t know when he smiled. After thinking for a while, he didn’t bother to argue so much with others. He nodded at her and focused back on Su Wanmei.

Deng Qinghuai, the power user, is an honest, middle-aged man with a rather dull temper. He hesitated for a long time before arranging what he thought was a more appropriate sentence, “Hello, Mr. Su, I have a question to ask. I don’t know if it’s convenient for Mr. Su to answer it for me.”
Su Mu hummed, “What’s the problem?”
Deng Qinghuai was a little embarrassed, “Just…did you and Sister Su buy your weapons at XXX?”
After hearing what he said, Su Mu lost some of his previous carelessness, “Where we bought it? Why do you ask?”

Deng Qinghuai licked his chapped lips, “I don’t have any other meaning in asking this. It’s just… I like collecting these long knives, but mine are still at home…” His eye circles turned slightly red as he said this, “Before the end of the world, I used to go to XXX to see these treasured weapons, but they were too expensive and I couldn’t afford them.”

Lu Shuangshuang was a relatively familiar person. She patted Deng Qinghuai’s shoulder to express comfort and asked Su Mu, “Su Mu, do you also like to collect weapons?”

Su Mu shook his head, “Before the world’s end, I read online posts and bought some weapons and supplies to keep at home.”
Lu Shuangshuang exclaimed, “I saw that post before but ignored it. I remember that many people were trolling the poster.”

Su Mu nodded.

Lu Shuangshuang joked again, “Do you think the poster has travelled from the future? How could he know about the end of the world?”

Su Mu looked indifferent, “Maybe.”

Wu Keke, who was in the passenger seat, heard this conversation and glanced back, her eyebrows slightly stretched.

That apocalyptic post was made by her.

Thank you for reading! This chapter was done in quite a rush, actually… so readability is so-so. I’m sorry for that.

Btw, This story has so many people with knowledge from the future! I can say… at least 4 I know of (and I’ve read only 1/4 of the story yet).
